Greg Henthorn Executive Vice President of Business Development

With a background in entrepreneurship, venture capital, and energy project development, Greg has a broad role in developing and managing many of Flat Rock’s strategic alliances and special projects. Greg’s perspective on the oil and gas business is influenced by his experience in originating, developing, and financing landfill gas, waste methane, and alternative fuels projects. Having spent most of his life in West Virginia, Greg was born in New Martinsville and grew up in Weston. He holds degrees in chemical engineering, business, and law from West Virginia University. He has delivered presentations and lectures at various venues, including Santa Clara University, the West Virginia University College of Law, the West Virginia Coal Association, and the West Virginia State Senate. A strong advocate for regional economic development, Greg serves on the Board of Directors of TechConnect West Virginia, a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution dedicated to innovation-based job creation.

Jon Kelafant Executive Vice President of Exploration

Jon Kelafant has over 25 years of experience in developing oil and gas projects, notably unconventional gas projects, in the United States as well as overseas. In a previous venture, Jon’s company was the first to drill and hydraulically fracture the Utica Shale formation. His knowledge of shale gas and unconventional gas production in the Appalachian Basin are a valuable asset to Flat Rock. Jon has conducted numerous hydrocarbon resource and reserve studies at both the regional level and prospect level for major and independent oil & gas and mining companies. His experience includes managing exploration and development programs in southern Africa, Ukraine, China, India, the United States, and several other countries. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and a past President of the National Capital Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Jon has a B.S. in Geology from Washington & Lee University and an M.S. in Geology from George Washington University. Jon enjoys the outdoors and is an accomplished marathon runner.

Scott Gannon Executive Vice President of Land

Scott manages Flat Rock’s land acquisition and title due diligence matters. He previously served as VP of Land and Business Development for Energy Production, Inc., a West Virginia based independent production company focused on conventional natural gas resources characterized by low-risk development opportunities, primarily from the Devonian Sands.  In that role, Mr. Gannon oversaw land related activities including title due diligence, leasing, acquisitions and divestures of producing and non-producing natural gas assets.  Scott previously assisted in the management of a public venture capital fund focused on early stage and mezzanine financing in West Virginia. Scott holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration, both from West Virginia University, and has lived in Jane Lew, West Virginia for most of his life.
